Scott + Jessica

Couple Off HollywoodThis shot was taken just outside Brian's apartment building. Scotty is a good friend of ours and also makes awesome music! I gave them the 4x5 positive and somehow the negative got left on Brian's kitchen counter for a couple weeks. The blue dot is from a drop of milk that was quite hostile to the emulsion. It was shot on Frankie framed and focused through the rangefinder viewfinder with the lens set to it's tilt position.

In His Studio

RAMSES
Meet Ramses, a really talented fellow Los Angeles artist and new friend. I met him yesterday in his studio through my wife. He was kind enough to give us a tour and the light was so great we just had to take his picture.
RAMSES 2His work is really great! Visit one of his galleries if you get the chance.

Frankie - An Introduction

Frankie!Meet Frankie our 4x5 Land Camera Conversion. He is a Frankensteins Monster of cameras, a creation made from 4 different "corpse" cameras. (Lens & Lens Board: Polaroid 110A / Body: Polaroid 160 / Rangefinder: Polaroid 900 / Back: 4x5 Graflok Back) It took months of hacking and fiddling around to complete this beautiful monster but since his first exposure I have been frankly in love!
The lens is a 127mm, f/4.7, 4-element Rodenstock Ysarex with a Prontor SVS shutter with speeds 1 - 1/300 plus Bulb. It has a most effective EV rating system on the lens. The rangefinder is accurate and I can shoot it at 1/8 sec. handheld with tack sharp results! I can also tilt the lens a bit and the focussing screen in the Graflok back allows for exact framing when a tripod is available. This camera really makes it easy to get beautiful 4x5 negatives or to shoot the huge Fuji FP-100C45 and FP-3000B45 instant films. We are absolutely loving it!
These were taken on our Pentax 6X7 camera with it's awesome Takumar 105mm f/2.4 lens. (Delta 3200, f/2.4, 1/30 sec.)

Kate & Thomas give great holy high fives. They went to Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, and Kate is working on her psychology doctorate. They also had the Metro stubs from their first date on the gold line. We shot twin lenses for this session and some instant film through our Polaroid 180 Land Camera. I love it! Can't wait to shoot some more at their wedding up in Lodi!

4X5 "Quality you can taste!"

Instant 4X5 QualityThese were taken with Frankie (our Polaroid 110A Land Camera crossed with 3 other cameras to make hand serious holdable 4x5 camera). They are instant negatives from some expired Fuji FP-3000B45. For some reason this film needs to be rated at ISO 12000! The one on the right was taken while tilting the lens to a preset position and using the rangefinder to focus.
